Some Tips for Valentine’s Day

Valentine’s Day is one of the most awaited days of the year for lovers all around the world. A large amount of people say this holiday was made up by the greeting card companies to sell more cards. But this holiday can be traced back to days of Chaucer. In those days, the concept of courting was just getting popular and Valentine’s Day changed into a day for lovers to celebrate. In reality almost all of the current day Valentine’s Day practices can be tracked back to Chaucer. This day has less to do with St Valentine and more to do with a poem created by Geoffrey Chaucer entitled “Parlement of Foules.”

These days it is no secret that those who are most likely to benefit from Valentine’s Day are companies that are somehow involved in the ‘romance’ industry. But this should not take away from the emotional bonding that Valentine’s Day generates. If nothing else, it is a day on which lovers have a reason to go out on a romantic date and spend the day with one another.

It’s very important to plan your Valentine’s Day far in advance in order to make the best of this special day. If you are in a relationship, then make sure you figure out early what you plan to do on Valentine’s Day. This is due to the fact that a lot of restaurant reservations are made on that day and your reservations must be made some way in advance in order to avoid the rush. Get your gifts early too so as to avoid paying jacked up prices the day before the important day.

If you are single, Valentine’s Day could be a real drag. This is why I advocate you get together with all your single pals and have a mad party. Invite anyone who is single to this party and make sure that people mingle. That way you too can enjoy on day of love with all of your single chums. This is the perfect way to meet new friends and this will improve your chances of finding your soul-mate. Single folks have no excuse for moping around anymore on Valentine’s Day. This holiday was invented for love and fun and everyone should have a great time.

So whether or not you are single or have been married for 50 years, ensure that you enjoy yourself totally this Valentine’s Day. Go out and have a good time as it is 2012 and who knows? This might actually be the only opportunity you ever have to find enjoyment in this grand holiday.
